2 horse trailers
Just wondering. my horse is really claustrophobic and we have a 2 horse straight load. Bad idea?
Please don't be mean i just want to know.
Basically you'd just be making your 2 horse into a 2horse stock trailer. No problem.
The only caveats I'd add, as a stock horse trailer user: some horses when trailered alone and tied tin the front will get themselves crammed into the nose and not know how to get uncrammed. Rare, but panic making for the horse. I tie mine part way back so they always have room on all sides, but if you have a long/big horse in only a 2horse this may not be possible.
Make sure you always tie them. I know some people like to leave them untied, but if you've ever been rolling down the highway with a loose horse galloping back and forth in the trailer, you know how uncontrollable your rig can get!
I'll turn my horses and lead them off, or back them, whichever they're in a better position for. If a horse is facing the rear, there's little sense in turning him and backing him out. If you've got two horses tied side by side, backing out makes more sense.
Don't put a mare in heat in with a stallion; don't put a breeding stud in with another horse. (Sounds obvious, doesn't it? lol... there's a story there!)
I had a friend with a similarly claustrophobic horse - one who really would panic and hurt herself. She trailered her in a two horse with the panel moved to the side. That way she could move her butt freely, and not panic, but would keep her front end more or less where it belonged.

I have a two horse Silver Star horse trailer. In the tack room i have two saddle racks that slide up and down. Does anyone know where i can get an additional rack that will mount in there? I cannot find this online and the silver star company is now out of business and does not make trailers anymore.
If you go to a trailer repair place, they usually have things that you can use. In California there is a place called G & F trailers that does all sorts of repairs. other trailer dealers may do it as well.

slant loads are easy, but if i lead my horse into a straight load, how do i get out, the window? it is kinda high off the ground and there is a middle divider. i have 2 horses and they always travel together.

thanks and if it was my choice, it would have an escape door but it was a gift and i certainly don't want to look a new trailer in the mouth lol!
If you can slip under the divider and squeeze out behind one of the horses, then that is one way, but probably not too safe. The window is a possibility too, but it would be kind of hard what with two horses standing right there. I'm not exactly sure what to tell you, I guess just try some things out, do what you can, I'm sure you'll figure something out
